    Hooah Wednesday Crud

    - Redneck reindeer Christmas lights - funny huh?

    - Kittens are snowed in Northern Nebraska. We won't get the still un-named (hubby get on it) kitties until they get shoveled out.

    - the adopt-a-platoon Christmas stocking campaign that I sewed 69 pitiful looking stockings is underway. Stuff will be collected this week and I will ship out next Monday

    - ready for The President's big speech today. If he says "very hard" I will be screaming in my living room!

    - a Christmas tree should be called a Christmas tree - it aint a Hannukah bush!

    - Happy Wednesday!

    This Jews Views on Christmas
    • DON'T assume everyone in the world celebrates Christmas
    • I did not grow up with a Christmas tree in my house, Santa coming down the chimney or presents on Christmas morning and I am normal (well you be the judge)
    • Hanukkah is NOT the Jews equivalent to Christmas
    • Having married a goy (gentile) I now decorate my house with a tree and lights for him - I would not take that away from him
    • Just because I have a tree doesn't mean I accept Jesus as the savior - nope - still a Jew-one God - yada yada yada
    • I am NOT afraid of Christmas parties at school or holiday Christmas musicals that my kids participate in - but that is going back to number 1 - don't assume
    • If you want to have a Christmas party at school or call it a "holiday party or end of semester party" I don't give a rats ass. School is for learning, socializing, being aware of other cultures and people outside your own little family and if you choose to make religion a part of a "government school" and think that it is OK and written in the Constitution then I don't really feel bad when the ACLU comes breathing down your back
    • Marketing the holiday - dumbass stores going PC is just plain stupid. It is the equivalent of shooting yourself in the ass. For crying out loud, Christmas sales can make you or break you, don't worry about being PC and wishing me a Happy Hanukkah.
    • Merry Christmas is a holiday greeting to me - it does not and should not offend me. If it does, then I need to re-examine my own values.
    • If I boiled your blood in any way - GOOD (evil laugh inserted here)!
    • FESTIVUS FOR THE RESTOFUS!

P.S. Go wish your other favorite Jewish blogger well. Shayne is in the hospital and hopefully he will get his butt out ASAP!

    Terminate Tookie?
Arnold -Tookie killed 4 freaking people - end of story! Oh ya - he is innocent, isn't everyone? Let's see...crime, trial, sentence - done! Great - he is now an inspiration with children's books and Snoop Dog (another reformed criminal) considers him an inspiration - then learn from his mistakes. He took 4 lives -time to get your punishment and not wiggle out of it! I am not talking about whether the death penalty is good or bad, but if it is the law and that was the sentence - too stinking bad!

When you gotta go, you gotta go!
A little Sunday funny to share. Reminds me of when my oldest was about 3 and the airplane was taxiing down the runway and he decided he had to go. The flight attendant said he couldn't get up, but he really had to go. So the pilot stopped the plane and he peed with me yelling at him the whole time "hurry up!" Most people were pissed (no pun intened) off and one guy said "when you gotta go, you gotta go." This is a true story!

Look What I Just Bought Hubby for Christmas
These are 2 Pixie Bob kittens coming from Nebraska. Aren't they gorgeous? Their tails were docked (cut by vet) as they were not born with the true bobbed tail. They have many dog-like qualities and can even be taught to play fetch and walk on a leash! He is so excited!

    Oh Great Soothsayers!
    • I predicted the purchase of a lawn sweeper today after hubby and the boys raked the front lawn for an hour - and low and behold - it happened (but after 3 1/2 hours)
    • Indian Chris likes making predictions as well
    • the hampster ran a few laps in my brain - and I decided - let's predict the future here
    • I am sure all my readers have some type of psychic power they are sitting on and maybe even made a few calls to Miss Cleo in the past
    • I will keep all our predictions on file and post about them as they come true

    Here are my predictions:

    1. There will be a TV show about blogging within 6 months (hopefully my idea, but not necessarily)

    2. ipod vision prices will go down within 6 months and it will become more mainstream

    3. John Kerry, Howard Dean and Ted Kennedy will say something stupid within 1 month

    4. Cindy Sheehan will get arrested again (2 months)

    5. Michelle Malkin will get her own show within 1 year

    6. The decline of newspapers will continue

    My Space Has Been Invaded!
    • if you are a military spouse, I don't need to say another word
    • we can't wait for them to come home and after about 24 hours - the honeymoon is over
    • now you all know how much I love this man and being married to him - but reunions aren't all roses and wine - more like a 6 pack of cheap beer and ragweed after the first 24 hours - then it evens out to imported beer and daisies
    • Spent too much while he was gone...hell I could have spent more! It is called "retail therapy!"
    • If you are a new military spouse - wake up to this now- it is part of your relationship.
    • It is something similar to the phenomena where you want to divorce them every single move! (I haven't talked to a wife that hasn't felt that way!)
    • just kvetching for all it is worth
    • back to tame the beast that is my laundry while watching crappy television!

    Let them eat leftovers!
    • The boys are out raking the 100 acre woods (really 1 acre) this morning. I give them about 1 hour until they ask the neighbor to borrow his attachment that drags behind the mower and picks up leaves!
    • We have enough leftovers to last through the weekend...I hope!
    • If you have a couple of minutes, would you mind going to http://hooah.net and giving me a little vote under spouses? It is not a contest - but he only shows the top 5.
    • Another dang fork today - I have officially left Elephant in My Coffee. No hard feelings with Cat or Deb - just best to rant on my own without any rules. Happy Thanksgiving! ( from Silke)

A big WELCOME HOME to Greta's hubby!

My seven-year-old son came home from school today with a Thanksgiving project he had made in his class. On the outside of the box it says...Thankful Box. On the inside is a piece of paper with a list of things he is thankful for:

I am thankful for my mom for giving me birth.
I am thankful for my mom for giving me love.
I am thankful for my dad for giving me love.
I am thankful for my dad because he sometimes calls me while he's in Iraq.
I am thankful for my brother because he is funny.

As for me...I have so much to be thankful for I could never list it all. One of the biggest things, though, is shown in the picture above - my husband. I am also very thankful for all the soldiers serving with him.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and many thanks to Greta for allowing me to share in her free therapy.

    Bears & Turkeys
    • Hubby (my bear) is home safely and needless to say everyone is thrilled (even Chulo the Stupor Dog- all the pets abandon me when he walks in the door)
    • if you don't have a blog - you will wonder what the hell I am talking about for the rest of this entry- sorry. This is a damn hobby - nothing else - though I would love my blog show idea to take ground!
    • This blog and my other had it a while ago with the "other" Bear - the one of TTLB Ecosystem - now everyone who owns a blog is all in a tizzy!
    • In order to be an "ecostar" these days you have to sell-out basically, play the ecosystem game or you have no chance of being a blog superstar by someone else's standards.
    • I gave up on the open trackback/whorage a while ago because it was distracting me from my writings and now The Bear (the keeper of the ecosystem has decided the same) (maybe he read some of my rants).
    • Anyhoo - now that I have that off my chest and you are spinning your head around wondering how many beers I have had - the answer is none - tonight - but tomorrow is another day!
    • I love blogging and will keep it up as long as I enjoy it and it keeps me partially sane! Thanks so much for reading and participating! You guys are the best - Lova ya all!
    • Happy Turkey Day and watch out for PETA!

Pearls of Wisdom from the Colbert Report (from Silke)
I am a big fan of the Colbert Report, a show that airs on Comedy Central, Mondays through Thursdays at 11:30pm.

Here are just a few of Stephen Colberts pearls of wisdom:

On Saddam's trial: "For me, this is the TV event of the year. It is like the Oscars but with atrocities."

On ethics: "As a journalist, it's not my place to editorialize. I'm here to objectively divide the facts into categories of good and evil, then you make up your own minds."

On childbirth: "Pushing a baby out of a narrow canal gives women something to hold over the child's head for the rest of that child's life, the father's life, and anyone-who-will-listen-at-a-family-barbecue's life."

On Canada: "Your Prime Minister recently said, and I can't believe he flew off the handle like this, 'Forgive my departure from the language of diplomacy, but this is nonsense.' Put that madman on a leash! Thank God, you people don't have the bomb."

On the British press: "Big news in England: 'Anti-terror Laws Could Be Unlawful.' Not only is that terrorist-coddling, it makes no sense. A law is always lawful, you can look it up. It means full of law."

    Genius...pure genius!

Why I want to strangle someone today...
    • if I knew what the President knew I wouldn't have voted the way he did, but wait, he did know what I knew and now I don't like that outcome because it may effect my political career, so I must call him bad names like; liar, poop pants & stinky butt (oh wait those are what my boys call each other)!
    • I am a "peace" person but I would like to stand and scream derogatory things at you all day until you see my point of view
    • my kid is smart and energetic - but if he does anything wrong - it is because he has ADD!
    • Wake up parental morons - every kid who moves without being tied to a chair or drugged does not need an f#$%@ diagnosis or trip to the shrink - maybe you do!
    • my kid can't handle the real world so I home school him - (I know I will catch some flack for this one) but it is NOT healthy to isolate your kid and shove your agenda down his throat so he or she becomes a social moron, scores high on the SAT & runs home from college after 1 semester (of course there are temporary reasons where some should homeschool & I applaud any parent who doesn't hang themselves at the end of the week - but this long term crap - it just pisses me off!
    • There - I feel much better now - must go drink a beer, take a hot bath (maybe drink another beer) and go to sleep!

    3 more days

    • Hubby will be home for good this Wednesday. Needless to say - the excitement in the house is in the air!
    • 50 stockings down - 20 more to sew. I am really putting a lot into making them - even though I know the soldiers will toss them. The school will be collecting the items to put in them next week and I will mail them off Dec.1st! Adopt a Platoons is a great organization!
    • Hubby (far left) getting a "thank you for your service during the hurricane and not getting eaten by a gator" award. The army will give you an award for just about anything. Nothing to congratulate him for but I thought I'd share. He knows I am proud!
    • Question for the day...do you know why the patch on the soldiers sleeve is backwards? No - it is not because the Army bought them in bulk from Korea and the Koreans goofed- so they made some story up to go with that. Or is it???

"Oy, get your head out of your ass!"
    • This was the best description phrase of my blog from an earlier contest. Chris, you were clearly the winner on this one!
    • Now that I have had my blog professionaly reviewed - (see post below), I realize I need to come up with a better description of this blog so I can gain new readers without them having to go back through a year of archives to know who I am or where I stand on things.
    • I am considering bringing some political rhetoric with my own flare and style back to this blog - what do you think? I really write for me - but part of the fun is having others to share with. So tell me loyal Hooah fans.....
    • I also will have my friend Silke (see-ka) guest contribute as she sees fit. She is intelligent and loves to play devil's advocate. I may be fairly smart, but being smart also tells me to surround myself with brilliant people (Cat, Deb, hubby & Silke). I know my intellectual capacities and frankly my brain is full at the moment. The hampster can only run so fast on the wheel as I have a lot of other things going on in my life!
    • I usually put this as a blog description on rings: "The rantings of a 37 year old military wife and mother of 3. Discussions on politics, daily life, parenting alone and whatever. You never know what you will get here, but you are sure to be entertained!"
    • Care to elaborate? I am open to suggestions!!!
    • Crazy Politicos has the funniest skit I have ever seen from The Kid from Brooklyn - crude language but f$@%n hysterical!
    • Gotta go pick up the dang house, IV the rest of the pot of coffee and start sewing the 70 stocking for soldiers staring me in the face!!!

    Back for OK City
    • middle some did just great for his first meet. He truly has that "middle laid back attitude." I am not sure that he knows what being nervous is and had a smile on his face the whole time
    • There were 13 in his age group and he managed 1 10th place and got a ribbon. He was beaming from ear to ear. He was also thrilled when his team got a trophy for 3rd place overall. He knows he contributed and was proud of that. The goody bag every competitor got was fun - because it had snacks in it!
    • Did the lunch at the bricktown brewery and had a beer with the kiddos (missed hubby). Then we did the little water taxi canal tour - the kids had a blast. Daughter sat with the "captain" and as usual - my kids were extremely (obnoxious) I mean interactive with the captain!
    • 4 more days and hubby comes home. The kids have been counting for 2 weeks now. Every morning I am told the exact number of days by each child (their calculations vary).
    • I paid for a blog review - I think I faired pretty well. Of course a liberal did one of the reviews - OUCH! You can check it out here.

I've been bitten by the "blog bug" and I'm hooked!
Wow - I feel like I did when I first started to drive, very excited and a little scared. This is my third blog entry but the first one officially on my own. The other two were submitted via email through Greta. Even though she had given me her username and password before I was too chicken to try it. I am very honored that she trusts me as a guest blogger.

A little background: I am a mother of two. My husband is in the military (Hooah!) and currently serving in Iraq. I used to be in the military and resigned my commission to become a stay-at-home mom. I love to volunteer as a CASA (see my second entry below). I also love dogs, books and reality TV shows (my guilty pleasure). I have known Greta for almost six years, ever since we lived on the same street in Texas. She is a wonderful friend and I love her sense of humor.

I have definitely been bitten by the proverbial "blog bug." This is such a wonderful forum for discussion and debate. I love a good argument and with the state of politics and current events now there is certainly a wealth of topics available to discuss. If you have seen some of my responses to earlier blog entries you may be wondering where I stand on the political spectrum. I guess you could call me a moderate conservative, though I have often agreed with many principles and policies that would be considered "liberal." But the bottom line is that I like to debate issues and I welcome challenges to my ideas and opinions. In this way I hope to educate myself so that I am an informed citizen who can (in some small way) contribute to the public debate.

The Proverbial Fork In The Road
I've hit it!!! Damn - it can be a wake up call!
    • first off - winner of the gator rasslin contest- Brett & Chris - you are both winners in my book. I don't want to be accused of nepotism! I know - weasley way out - well tough tooties - it is my blog and my contest!
    • My business We Surf For You - has hit a small lemon in the road that I need to quickly turn into lemonade! Deb & Cat my business and blogging partners have decided to move on to greener pastures and I am going to run with the website/business. No hard feelings - no ruffled panties - just life changes and adjustments - where business goals and ideas change. I never wrote about the triumphs and turmoil with the business before because I had 2 other partners to respect. Now that I will be the owner of it - I can write about how annoyed I am with myself or how a 37 year old mother of 3 kicks up her heels and gets her shit together. I am not positive what direction this will go - hopefully only up. Gotta make some dang $$$!!!
    • political and current event blogging - I will still try to keep most of the serious stuff on Elephant in My Coffee with Cat & Deb. We have worked hard to become a decent and respectable group blog and we will continue to do so.
    • friendships - living the vagabond military life allows you to be more willing to let people in and make friends that are like family. Deb, Cat & myself are great friends and will be planning a trip to Vegas soon (hear that honey). We might even blog about it with our cameras. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas - nah - not with us!
    • middle son will compete in his first gymnastics meet tomorrow - he isn't nervous because he has no idea what to expect. I just want him to have fun. As with many 7 you, he is more excited to go to a hotel with a swimming pool!

National Adoption Month - CASA Post by Silke

CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocate

Did you know that in 2002, an estimated 1,400 children died as a result of abuse and neglect. 76%of those children were under four years old. Today, over one half-million children are in foster care because they cannot safely live with their families.

You can help abused and neglected children by becoming a CASA. CASA volunteers work to ensure that these children do not suffer further abuse due to the overburdened court system or at home.

A CASA is a trained volunteer who is appointed by a judge to represent the best interest of a child in court by serving as an extra pair of eyes and ears for the Court and a voice for the child. Children who are victims of abuse and neglect who have become wards of the court are assigned CASA volunteers.

What does having a CASA volunteer mean to an abused child? Imagine what it would be like to lose your parents, not because of something you did, but because they can't - or won't - take care of you. Now, into your life come dozens of strangers: police, foster parents, social workers, judges, lawyers, and more. Having a CASA volunteer means having by your side a trained and committed adult who has been appointed by a judge to watch over and advocate for your best interests. That volunteer will make sure you don't get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in an inappropriate group or foster home. They will be there for you until your case is closed. It can make the difference between homelessness and a safe home, between dropping out and completing school, between unemployment and success, between jail and becoming a productive member of society.

Anyone can become a CASA. No special or legal background is required. Volunteers are screened closely for objectivity, competence and commitment. All volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and must submit to and pass a thorough background examination. CASA volunteers undergo a comprehensive training course conducted by the local CASA program. Training requirements vary by program, but an average course is approximately 30 hours.

Here's what Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and best-selling author, Anna Quindlen had to say about CASA volunteers:

"You go into a court room and you will see lawyers who know the law and have dozens of kids' files, or you have social workers who know the regulations and have dozens of kids' files. But if a CASA volunteer is in the room, you will see they have just one file, and what they know is that one child. And that can make all the difference to a judge's decision regarding how the rest of that child's life is going to go."
    - Anna Quindlen, on CBS "The Early Show."

You can learn more about becoming a CASA by going to http://www.nationalcasa.org/. To find the closest CASA program to you click on "volunteer" and then "find CASA in my community."

I became a CASA in 2002 and it's one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had. I want to thank Greta for giving me this opportunity to tell you about the CASA program. I know she believes in it as much as I do. Please consider volunteering your time and talents to this very worthy cause.

Spotlights, cherrypickers, blocked roads and PA systems helped them do their finest work! Their care and knowledge of tree trimming is surely superior to that of the average person. Here is some of the work they did on the street behind my house -I'm sure you will be rushing to call them for your next tree trimming job!

    Good Luck?

I was driving princess to school with the window of my van open on this joyous global warming day (80 degrees). A little birdy pooped and strategically aimed it inside the driver's side window. It got on my pants, sleeve, window controls and my van. My son (still a little under the weather) was laughing hysterically. He said that reminded him of a Far Side cartoon with the birds making targets on things below! So, do I get good luck from this incident?

    Wednesday...Half Way There Folks!
    • Still walking around like an old lady - I can't straighten up - very attractive. Not that I don't have crappy posture to begin with, but this is ridiculous!
    • #1 son went to school today - a little Vitamin M (motrin) and he was good to go!
    • Princess is still asleep! Hope she is well!
    • I watched a bunch of quality TV yesterday - kidding - Springer etc... and have come to the absolute conclusion that if people are given too many handouts in life - they won't value their worth and will never amount to their full potential. I'm not talking about the occasional down on your luck out of work or sick stuff. I REFUSE to give to the beggars on the exit ramp by the hospital - get a damn job! That feels better - my rant for the day!
    • I would like to create a non-biased reference guide for people on the differences between voting Democrat and Republican. I looked around for a non-biased guide and it doesn't exist. Just a little edumacation for people! Heck, I'll give it it's own blog if it comes out good. I think people forget why they vote one way or another and get caught up in the anger over the other party.
    • I even tried finding good stats on demographics for each party and there were no clear graphs. Also, the issues the parties truly and traditionally stand for.
    • OK groupies and those with a surfing coffee break - let's do this say by December 1st - submit any articles, references, graphs, things you wrote or anything to me perrybrats@cox.net and I will keep it in a safe place and work on getting it together. Just label it...VOTING GUIDE so I won't delete it as spam!

I'm Alive, Other BS & the Contest Winners
    • I guess there is nothing to do for viral menigitis - if I indeed have it - or something else like it- take some motrin & call me in the morning.
    • I am walking like a 90 year old women with calcium deficiency.
    • My neck and back feel like a hose has filled up my spinal column and my head should pop off any day now
    • I loathe condescending doctors - "you seem like a real worry wart so if you really want - we'll perform the spinal tap to make you happy." This guy had no sense of humor - so the "bite me" under my breath would have gone over his head.
    • Child #1 has some symptoms - but not as bad - he got to watch TV until his eyeball started falling out today.
    • the first 2 docs that came into the ER room said "you are getting a double team today"- I had to crack a joke "I'm not really up to that right now." They didn't even crack a smile. Some people have no sense of humor!
    • Of course what you've ALL been holding your breath for ... the winner of the alligator caption contest is my hubby Brett. Honestly - I had other input than my own to choose. In a close second was Indian Chris with his border patrol solution!
    • Prizes - well - Brett - I promise you 1 round of golf without children (or maybe 1) when you get home. I don't want to hear any more stories about cases of beer magically being left on the golf course and falling in your cart.
    • Indian Chris - I will give you some valuable Hooah Wife blogshares. Don't spend all your money in one place!
    • Thanks for playing everyone & your well wishes. I really don't feel that sick - just like a freight train has run over my spine!

    Update from Greta
Greta is home from the hospital and called me with this update.

They did not do a spinal tap, saying that even if it is viral meningitis, there's nothing that can be done for it besides rest and fluids, blah blah. Apparently it's not as uncommon as it would seem and is not as serious as it would seem either - unless of course you have complications and it become bacterial.

All I know is Greta feels awful and it looks like her oldest son has it as well. Please keep them all in your thoughts.

Hurry back Greta, but take care of YOURSELF and your family first. ;)

    Health Update
Update by Cat from Elephant in My Coffee.

Well, it looks like Greta may have viral meningitis after all. I just spoke to her and she's on her way to the ER for a spinal tap. And, as expected, Greta, aka "Ms. Prepared For Anything", took a bag with her in case she is admitted. The kids are taken care of. The colonel's wife will be at the house when they get home from school. Oh, and she would have gotten to the ER sooner, but decided to clean the kitchen first.

I'll update again when I have news.

Is There a Dr. in the House?
Went to the after hours clinic last night for some strange symptoms: stiff neck & back, swollen glands, low grade fever. The exam I recived was equilvalent to the ones my daughter gives her stuffed animals. And don't get me going on the "latex allergy" crap. It turns into a huge fiasco every time I step foot in an office! I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD WITH A LATEX ALLERGY! I guess I will use a similar slogan like the NRA uses "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." "Doctors don't kill people, but doctor's with latex, kill people with latex allergies."

Anyhoo - symptoms are worse today and son #1 awoke with the same symptoms. I called both our docs in desperation - so far the only response I got is for me to come in for a strep test. Just nuts! I'll keep you posted!

    National Adoption Month
November is National Adoption Month and the 19th is National Adoption Day. Being a proud parent of my princess who was a Foster Child, I am always trying to talk people into going through the Foster Care System and tell them to be informed as well. Every child from everywhere deserves a good home

    What I usually get is:
"I always thought about it, but didn't know where to start"
"Do I have to deal with the birth parent/s?"
"I have other children in my home - what do you think?"
    "How much will it cost?"
"Will I know everything about the child?"
    "Is it easy?"
"Would it be better to go overseas?"

Feel free to ask me anything about the process if you are considering it - if I don't know - I have quite a network of friends across the US who do!

I also want you to please check World Links who wrote this to my friend Sherry in Tulsa (she has adopted 2 children 1 from Russia and 1 the Ukraine):

World Links Association is in the process of organizing our annual Karing 4 Kids Host Programs (Christmas) for Orphans from Ukraine. The purpose of this program is to give orphans the chance to spend several weeks enjoying fun, experience life within a family and give them an introduction to American culture. Our program provides a chance for families to experience and evaluate first-hand the challenges and rewards of having an older child in the home.

Right now WL is organizing a host program in January for 2,5 weeks, waiting for arrival of 7 children from Ukraine coming to TULSA.

    List of children:

    1)Siblings (Radchenko family):
    Yevgeniy R. 12/26/99
Oleksandra R. 07/17/01 (cannot come due to her age)
    Kristina R. 05/10/98

    2)Siblings (Nituk family):
    Alona N. 01/30/99
Aleksandr N. 06/30/01 (cannot come due to his age)

    3)Siblings (Shevchenko family)
    Vicktoria Sh. -01/28/98

    Hooah Military Stuff
    • guess how many days my hubby gets off during a deployment? You guessed it Zero
    • Officers in the Army don't wear stripes
    • TIDY= Temporary Duty
    • BDU = battle dress uniform (camos)
    • nobody in the US is forced or coerced to join the service - they serve because they are proud of their country, freedom and the opportunities for growth the military offers
    • Nobody in the military does so with the intention of becoming "rich"
    • Re-enlistment rates are up
    • The whole family serves along with their soldier
    • Soldiers may make some additional cash while deployed - but their wives (or hubbies) manning the homefront manage to spend at a greater rate when they are gone. More take-out dinners, more entertainment, more retail therapy, pay for services they might not pay for (lawn help, babysitters to do simple tasks)

I was flicking throught the channels and caught something on Dateline about Internet Predators. I was sick over this program. They were all set up to meet a 13 year old girl or boy. They were a special ed teacher, doctor, busboy, all ages allprfessions and even a Rabbi. This was soooooo gross and disturbing on so many levels. If you have young kids using the internet PLEASE keep tabs on them. This is scary stuff!

    My Parent's Cat Dilemma
My 76 year old dad made the news. I hate to admit that my parents have 9 cats - I didn't even grow up with a pet in the house (except my brother who still lives with them). They love their cats and they have a big house and all of them have been rescued or found. They are great pet owners and my mom even brushes their teeth! They really have the "special needs" cat house.

To get back to my dad, the Board of Health in their town in Massatushits drafted a proposal that would limit all houses to 3 cats and will fine $25 a day for those with more. They claim that they won't look for the cats door to door. My dad has never been a political person, but spoke out in the meeting (end of the article). I am so proud of him. If they dare fine my parents or say anything to them - you can bet your Science Diet - I will become their WORST NIGHTMARE!!!

Just got off the phone with a producer-type (I think)
    • my day in bullets
    • determined to make this blogging show concept worked - like a steam train heading for your living room or at least I-pod!
    • talked to one big agent on the phone - she doesn't do TV show concepts - bummer #1
    • got on to the writer's guild website and called about 5 "agents" on the list
    • each time got the equivalent of "Sorry folks, park is closed. The moose outside should have told you so!"
    • finally googled "political literary talent agents" got Special Guests and somehow ended up with the President of the company on his cell phone camped out in the woods with his laptop - Jerry
    • yes, being in the woods should be a big red flag - isn't that where serial killers hang out?
    • somehow, in a strange kind of way - he accepted my concept as something he could see working
    • now I gotta figure out what to do next
    • to put it bluntly - I wanted someone to get the concept off the ground for me tomorrow and run with it. Looks like this may take a little work on my part. Of course - with me, Deb & Cat as stars!
    • maybe some more caffeine will get me going again - oh snap - forgot to eat today - that might help
    • so y'all (I can say that - I lived in Texas for 5 years) better help me with this if you want to hop onto the gravy train. Right now the only gravy train I have is in Chulo the Stupor Dog's dish!
    • follow me on the blogging/tv show idea and I may say "oh yes, when I was just a washed-up stay at home military wife with 3 snot-nosed kids, 3 snotty cats and 1 poor dumb dog - I remember blogging with him or her!"

Bear - don't make me send my mother after you!
OK - eating crow here ... The open trackback craze, parties, whorage was really starting to bug the hell out of me. I swore them off for now, but may have to eat my words and pride in the not so distant future. I am convinced The Bear is enjoying global warming this year and not hibernating as I have seen many great blogs such as Stop the ACLU and Camp Katrina make their way up there quickly.

For crying out loud I am trying to run a household alone here - I don't have time to flirt with The Bear. Hell, I can't even get Michelle Malkin to notice me (get your mind out of the gutter - in a blog type of way). No this is not a pity party, this is me just bitching out loud because I am the only grown up in this house right now!

For any of you that have experienced my mother's comments on this blog - you know she has a lot to say about...everything and let me tell you -she is an expert on everything. If she has something to tell you - she will bug you to death to tell you. So again Bear - do you want me to send her after you? Remember, she is a Jewish mother and can make you feel guilty for being born or for finding change in your pocket!

For the ones who are totally lost, The Bear is the keeper of the Ecosystem - a blog rating . Notice most blogs have a "I am a cute little Fluffy Bunny in the TLB ecosytem" on them or "I am a Furball with Worms" on the side bar. Basically, at this point, unless you are already on the top, say...200 - you are a scummy, slimy bottom feeder for the remainder of your global warming, tainted pathetic ecolife!

Well, gotta go tend to the dishes staring me in the face from dinner! Mom, this is just totally fun, you are only an expert on a few things and made me feel guilty for being born one time - you know I love you!
