Agree to Disagree
Back from a wonderful vacation with wonderful friends & their families. I had a very interesting conversation with a dear "liberal" small business owner friend of mine during my visit. Mind you, he lived in Europe during his upbringing & married a European. Our common ground is that we put our families first & of course adore each other. We agree to disagree but love to discuss. I would like to highlight some of his points & hear feedback. Don't you wish you could have been a fly on the wall?
- Who would you rather have on your team in jeopardy - Kerry is way smarter than Bush.
- I wish we were back with Clinton in office - those were the better economic days
- I would vote for Hillary in a heartbeat
- We should have national health - it works overseas
- By all means, I should be Republican since I am in that tax bracket
- I think we need welfare in this country for short periods of time
- The US used to walk softly & carry a big stick - now we just carry a big stick
- We have no business being in Iraq - there were no WMD
- We will never bring peace to Iraq & need to make other countries try to act like ours
- We need to work with the UN - they are important to the US future
- Why didn't we go after N Korea first? We know they have WMD
- Bush never traveled outside the US before his office - lived off daddy's $
- Kerry would have brought the troops home sooner & handled the war better
- Someday - Europe will unite & go against US policies - because the Euro is so strong
- If Israel had built the wall when it was supposed to - they wouldn't be where they are today
- Israel gets away with not following UN rules - why is that allowed -they do what they want
- The Electoral College is outdated - needs to go

Be Thankful
On vacation at our last duty station now - El Paso. We have made some lifelong friends here - and hopefully will move back someday. I just sat down with the kids that I m staying with to explain to them about why my husband isn't here. They had lots of questions regarding - why we want to help Iraq, why we are building schools for them, how did someone like Saddam get into power & where is OBD & the weapons. Lets just say - they are now more educated than the mainstream American public & world. I also told them - we will someday find the WMDs!
If I don't write anything else this week... I am thankful for all the soldiers serving their country & for those forgoing Thanksgiving with their families to help the world! I am also thankful for our President for having the "cajones" to take on the "bad guys." Of course I am thankful for all my family, friends, & readers (I feel like this is an Oscar acceptance speech).

Festivus
Got down the X-mas/Hanukkah decorations last night. Won't be the same without my honey (sad)! I usually tell people we celebrate "Festivus" (for all you Seinfeld fans). Feats of strength!!! Thank goodness Santa shopped before the deployment. Now I have to figure out how out how to pull this off. Our Santa doesn't wrap & this year won't assemble!! He will, hopefully remember to have enough batteries in the house!

Al-Jazeera Television
If I were running the war on terror - I personally would have disabled this television station a long time ago. Do you think we should label them a terrorist organization? I am repeating this post because this is seriously bugging me!

Worried
I just want all my readers to know that I am having a beer & heading to bed. There has been some escalated violence where hubby is. It has only been a few weeks since his latest departure & this will be the toughest so far. I am not looking for sympathy, just want everyone to realize how much all these soldiers & civilians give & risk everyday. All families with a loved one over there need your support too! I have to get some sleep so I can properly care for the rugrats in the morning without my head spinning around & green slime coming out of my mouth!

Bill of No Rights -dammit!
This was forwarded to me from a friend, but with research, found the real author is Lewis Napper http://www.fightthebias.com/Resources/Humor/bill_of_no_rights.htm. I would like all my readers to read this and comment on it. I recently had a "discussion" with my mother over health care. She complained how much she pays for health care and that we should have "National Health." My stance is that health care is a privilege, not a right. Her argument was that I just say that because we have coverage through the military. I told her we all have choices on who we work for etc.. That make health care possible. Everyone is entitled to emergency care, but besides that - we all should pay our own way.
Perfect example: my mother said it was so unfair that my cousin went to the ER & then had some test and was stuck with a big bill. Turns out he is uninsured and Mom thinks this is terrible. I told her he made a "choice" to work without coverage - not my fault or problem...
I am sick of people playing "victims" and wanting "handouts." National Health is a failure & Hillary could never even get its' foot off the ground! By the way - if you've seen many of the "poor" in this country - they have cell phones & TVs & smoke. Again - choices on how we spend our money or lack of it. I do have a big heart but am also a reasonable person!!!

UGH!
One overflowed bath, 1 leaking ceiling, 1 sick kid, 1 bloody nose, 1 puking cat ... I'll laugh about it all tomorrow and realize how lucky we are to have everything we do! I know my husband would love to be home to enjoy the chaos!

My Plan for the Bush Administration
- Release a list to the American people of the "bad guys" caught & who remains
- Help them hold elections that include the majority
- maintain a presence for 6 more months and bring all soldiers home, but if necessary list areas where soldiers will need to be posted a head of time - so Americans will be behind it
- Show press of the positive things going on there (schools etc..)
- Interview soldiers who have been involved and feel their assignment was worthy
- Deliver weekly press release to all newspapers with a summary of what has been accomplished and what is coming next (possibly)
- Outline the condition of Iraq weekly as well
- Outline a weekly budget of what is being spent on the "War on Terror"
- If necessary, take out weekly add in all papers
I guess this all stems from me, personally having to justify this war. I want it taken care of so my children don't have to worry about it someday. I keep reminding people that terror can be conquered - a lot less people will be willing to die for "Allah" if their family doesn't receive financial support from terrorist leaders. We need to remove the leaders so the next generation will develop without the goal of blowing themselves up to be successful. There will always remain a few loonies, but far less. By the way, if France names a street after Arafat I call for an all out boycott!

A Peaceful Sunday Eating Bon-Bons on the Couch
Sunday in a nutshell with patience at a low!
1. Woke up with 3 kids, cats & dog in bed
2. COFFEE (Dunkin Donuts brand)
3. Check e-mail from hubby - he is route to Kirkuk from Mosul
4. Get kids breakfast, house & animal chores
5. See the Incredibles & deal with the 4 year old about 1/2 way through the movie
6. Trip to "Supertarget" that was super insane ( 2 crying incidents before we left)
7. Kids played outside & 6 year old fell of swing
8. Called ambulance for possible neck injury (I mobilized him until they came) By the way - the ambulance couldn't find my street - missing street sign! He was fine - no biggie!
9. Forget cooking - opened a can of SpaghettiO's
10. Ate a bunch of chocolate cupcakes my neighbor brought over for the "kids!"
Just another day...

Margaritas & Monty Python
Boy did that top-shelf Margarita feel good at luchtime! I just finished helping coach my oldest's basketball game - we lost 13 to 14. Hubby called from Mosul this morning and once again reminded me not to pay such close attention to the news. He reminded me that the news "we" watch or read about has long passed! I think this calls for some Monty Python with the kids and more Margaritas for me today! I need an excuse to drink alone - killer bunnies and flesh wounds here I come!

The Rrrrest of the Story
Yes, we are big Paul Harvey fans here. Did you know he was an Okie? My 4 year old loves saying his catch phrase too. My Dad just left after a week long visit. I had to subject myself to a week of the Clinton News Network and of course a Massachusetts Liberal. He - like many others is convinced that his son-in-law would not be in Iraq if Kerry was in power. He felt much better when my hubby told him he would be much safer over there with Bush still in power.
News from hubby : Last night he slept in Saddam's Mosul palace and enjoyed the use of his "throne." Speaking to people there reinforced his belief that the insurgency is not about religion, but about Syria and other neighboring countries not wanting to be successful because it may lead to the demise of their own non-democratic basis of power. This is not about Islam or anti-Americanism but rather about a bunch of tyrants fighting for their own survival. If Iraq is successful and their people see the results then they are in trouble. They use use Iraq to fight this battle against liberty and they use terrorism and insurgency as their tools because their militaries can not stand up against an American lead coalition force.

I Should Put Blinders On
Hubby is now in Mosul and I should not watch the news anymore. There have been 2 soldiers reported killed there today. I am either going to lose 20 pounds, gain 30 or become an alcoholic before this is all over! By the way - hubby wrote that they are doing a lot of great stuff there like building schools. He is excited about his jobs and the quality of the soldiers there!

Babs, Babs, Babs
http://barbrastreisand.com/statements.html#wemusthavepatience
Poor misguided Babs shoots off her mouth all the time. This is a nice collection of new and old quotes that will make you gag! Have some fun "coffee talk" with this. As for Madonna speaking out about Bush and Iraq and bitching about global terror - tell her to stay in England and denounce her US citizenship.

Warm Fuzzies
Today was the Veterans Day Program at my childrens' school. They honored all who served with songs and readings. There were about 75 veterans present. The best warm fuzzy for me was when they recognized my husband and the school has tied yellow ribbons for him on all the trees. How blessed we are to be embraced by our new community. By the way, G-d was clearly mentioned many times in this program.. how wonderful! No BS PC stuff in this community!

Murphy's Law of Deployment
As usual, Murphy's law of deployment always rears its' ugly head. ADT still can't activate my alarm system (they are incompetent). They are now going on their 4th try in a month. My heater wasn't working - thank goodness the heating guy didn't charge me! ADT shut off the power to the furnace!!! The lawnmower battery was dead and my nice neighbor helped me replace it. My kids - well - they have been little tyrants (really just the 2 youngest). My middle one heaved his new trophy across the room in a "deployment setting in rage." I guess I can pretty much settle into my life of bon-bons on the couch...

Rest Already (and not In Peace)
Farewell to Arafat. It will be interesting to see who shows up at the funeral? I think Chirac and Clinton will be first in line to honor their "friend." Meanwhile, his blood money is hidden somewhere in Swiss Banks. Hopefully this money will not be used to fund future terrorists. Lets all hope that a "moderate" group will come to power peacefully. Maybe Sharon could actually "work" with someone from Palestine...

Quote from Neal Boortz
"Bush's best chance is rain ... bad weather in the battleground states. Bad weather will suppress the Democratic vote. And just why is that? Think about it. The Democratic party is the party of dependency; dependency on government. If these people can't be expected to actually get an education, develop a job skill and find a job somewhere, and then manage to generate some degree of economic independence ... why would you expect them to get out there in bad weather to vote? These people don't like hardship, and they don't like putting forth one more bit of effort than they have to in order to survive. If it rains many of them will stay indoors and let someone else take care of things for them. After all, that's been their lifestyle for years, why change now?"
