    Response from a Friend
    * George W. Bush absolutely did serve his country!!!

    * We are fighting a WORLD fight on terrorism, not just against OBL. The hunt for OBL has continued. Do you really think the military/gov't wouldn't get OBL if they could? Of course they would!!!

    * By removing the Sadam from power, the U.S. achieved one of its primary goals: Eliminating a threat from weapons of mass destruction - from anywhere, not just OBL.

    * The UN agreed that he was a threat, they simply weren't willing to do anything about it (no surprise seeing that at least 3 major countries had back door deals with Iraq)

    * Sadam rewarded Palestinian bombers' families with cash. The group that bombed the ship (Achiles Lauro (sp?)) has also been found to have connections/refuge with Sadam.

    * The war in Iraq wasn't about a *form of government* - what Sadam had wasn't government at all - it was a violent murderer dominating a country with fear, threats, rape and mass killings, including biological agents.

*It would be a tragic mistake to sit around and wait to see who might attack us next. We no longer have that luxury and probably never had it to begin with.

    * I also feel that we are safe here at home. Is there always room for improvement? Of course! I haven't heard much of anything from Kerry about what he plans to do other than he can "do it better". Easy to say when you haven't walked an inch in those shoes! I haven't seen that he does ANYTHING better based on his voting record. Deb Carrasco

Greta,Surprise! I agree with 95% of what you posted. I hope that the other 5% that I disagree with does not adversely affect our friendship. Why are we in Iraq? What does that have to do with the terrorism of our country?---------------Quotes:"The most important thing is for us to find Osama Bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." - George W.Bush, Sept. 13, 2001"I don't know where he is. I have no idea, and I really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority." - George W. Bush, March 13, 2002--------------So, we are at war with Iraq, yet they had nothing to do with the loss of lives in the twin towers, and we have not found a trace of weapons of mass destruction.Greta, I agree that we should vote for whom OBL does not want in office. I don't know what to think about his video that was released today -- worked until 10:00 tonight and haven't had time to digest his message. The timing makes me suspicious, and the connections definitely make me suspicious. I personally feel that since we were UNABLE to locate & destroy OBL, we unnecessarily went for a target that was obtainable to satisfy and calm the terrified public. I believe we are involved in a war where we don't belong, and I believe we are in this war for the wrong reasons. The voting public wants safety & security above all other issues, but what has George W. Bush done to protect our safety? Everyone is so terrified and vulnerable that we are satisfied that we captured a bad guy, even though that bad guy was not the bad guy we were seeking. That was one hell of a marketing campaign pulled off to the nth degree.Disagreed with the war in Viet Nam and disagree with this one. I believe in a strong military force, yet disagree that we send our troops into harm's way just because we disagree with another country's form of government. We wouldn't want other countries invading our country to force us to govern differently. The lack of consideration/cooperation with the UN is unacceptable.I truly respect and am grateful for your husband's commitment (and your commitment) to our country's defense. I believe that I can support our troops without supporting the war. George Bush did NOT serve his country, and Kerry did. Cheney has too many oil interests to be unbiased. I want a man in office who has actually killed another man and fought for his life.Hugs, Lori

    Voting Importance
Vote who you think Bin Laden doesn't want in power. You think he wants to play hardball with Bush - no way. He'd love to have Kerry in the White House playing a "UN Risk game."!

    Defining Oneself
Today has been a day of deep thinking for myself. Sending my hubby off to Iraq in a few days - I've been thinking so much of our wonderful life together. First off, I must admit that I have a wonderful marriage (really). Some days I'd like to wack him on the head with the remote - but then he'd probably like to beam me too. The majority of the time we love being together. We have lots of discussions about religion, politics, family etc... we also believe our children are the most important thing in the world. We are both huge goofballs and softies when it comes to animals and children.

I had a conversation with my neighbor about religion today. We discussed our different views and went on about our day. I also had a political conversation with some gals at gymnastics today. I was told I don't look "Conservative" what does that mean I thought???

I guess defining myself is not as important to myself as sometimes is to other people. Do I fit neatly into one little category - no way! I am definitely unique and opinionated, strong in my own convictions and comfortable with myself and my beliefs.

Do I worry about an after life - no I don't. I place people concerned with an after-life into 1 of 2 categories 1: how you live your life & 2: what you believe. Playing devil's advocate (no pun intended) I feel my values are in place and I live my life to contribute as much as a can to my family, country and society. If there is a reward at the end and I see a lot of hypocrites I know standing there - I'd turn and run the other way. I guess I have problem with murderers having an epiphany and thinking they'll be rewarded in the end. Yes, people can change, but we all need to be responsible for our actions during our journey here on Earth.

I guess my identity is "Greta." I am happy with that and hope I never change (I am way too stubborn). If you want me to change - tough!

    Cocktail of Thoughts
    • Thank goodness the Red Sox finally broke the curse! I am so happy for them and my 75 year old dad who sits on the couch year after year and routes for his favorite team! First game next season against the Yankees - can't wait!
    • Arafat - OK he leads his country but doesn't think the health care there is good enough for him - go to Paris...
    • Dick Morris - I hope you prove Nele Boortz wrong with your prediction - I can't imagine a world with Kerry in charge - UGH!!! The thought makes me want to hurl!
    • Bill Clinton in a Yamalkah pandering to the Jewish voters in in Florida- how sick!
    • Jewish voters - get out there and vote Republican !

    Classroom Salute
Today my husband was invited to speak to our 3rd grade son's music class. They have been working on a Veteran's Day Program and wanted to learn more about Veterans. Besides the questions "do you know my cousin Larry's Brother Dave - he is in the Army?" the children came out knowing a little more about a soldier and his job. Only 1 fielded question was tainted by a child whose parents he obviously hears discuss things at home- "What about the WMDs." My husband's reply was, " everyone in the world thought they had them and now it doesn't matter!" They sang a wonderful song and saluted my hubby and he saluted them back. Today those kids learned the true meaning of "Hooah!"

    Biased Media
OK, I am now ticked off about this "false" report that the mainstream media is gloatingly diving into. These missing explosives are Bush's fault too? How about - NO @%* WAY! This is just another example of the media trying to create negative press for W before the election. I hope his campaign staff can straighten out the American people who watch mainstream media into seeing the bias in this accusation. Maybe the poor little geese of Iraq moved it???

    Juveniles in Oklahoma
For any campaign managers out there - this is the most immature political race on the planet! Coburn vs. Carson - they have even made the adds cutesy so my kids enjoy them. I know this is a tight race but really - this is pitiful.

    Are you Hannatized Yet?
4 hours of talk radio in the car today. Boortz has a good point - if you are too dumb to vote and don't know any of the issues -stay home! I believe this campaign would save a lot of pain for those that have to go to the polls and blindly press the Kerry name - just because they don't know jack about the issues! I am holding my breath and hoping the swing states swing the right way! If we could just make every American listen to Hannity (or make the women watch because he's cute) maybe they would all get it and realize the "right choice." By the way - excuse me while I barf at Johhny walking with cammos with his cronie carrying the poor dead goose behind him! Is this the same guy that makes his PB sandwiches???

    Heinz to the Garbage
That last bottle of Heinz catsup in my fridge is going straight to the garbage. Ms. Catsup has pissed me off once again. I guess staying home with my kids and taking care of them doesn't offer me any experience in life.

Picture me at a military ball with my husband. The 5 star General walks by and steps on my foot. My reply to him is "scumbag." Now, I don't wear rank, but do you think he will forget that comment when he goes to rate my husband the next time?

Now picture Ms. Hoity Toity Catsup at a UN dinner with her hubby, Kofi and the gang. They are working hard to make all nicey nicey to some piddly country that Johnny feels we must appease. Then, Ms. Catsup opens her trap and offends the wives of every nation present at the event. Do you think she will help world politics???

When she so eloquently "barks" at Tony Blair to pass the catsup- do you think he will hand it to her or squirt it on her?

    Money can't buy class!!!

    Gut Check
John Kerry referred to "gut checks." Well, I had one yesterday. I had to go to sign all the legal documents for deployment. It made me sick to my stomach that in the 12 years we've been together, this is the first time I am sending him off to a war in which he may not return. But then, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow too!

He is my best friend and I dream of our future together. I picture us and all our pets, driving around the country together in an RV visiting grankids. This could all come to an end if some insurgent hating man chooses to target my husband.

However, my "gut" tells me he is going to accomplish his mission, the mission of the US, protect us here at home and help rebuild a new Iraq. Lets just hope the mission doesn't change in the middle, which could leave our troops vulnerable!

On the lighter side... I now have full access to all the money (insert evil laugh here)!!!

    Blogging Caveats
I guess whatever I write will stir controversy in somebody. Controversy and discussions with other intelligent people are welcomed. I do not want to discourage those with different views to discontinue reading my log or others like it - just to respond with intelligent responses. I like to be open minded and love to hear what ever others have to say. My mind is still open to suggestions. I am set in my ways to some point - but like to learn more about other opinions.

After all, we are all playing armchair quarterback if we are not politicians???!!!!

"You can please some of the people all of the time, but not all of the people all of the time." my mother & whoever really invented this quote.

    Hey, This is America
I am overwhelmed with all the responses I have received so far (wow). I have decided to add my name to my blogsite and will continue to remain faceless until I can find a picture of myself (I am the photographer in the family- no pictures of me). My husband and I really appreciate all the words of support and the words of distention as well.

Hey, this is America - you are entitled to your opinion - but don't hide behind it as "anonymous." As for the compassion and patriotism from Cat's sister at catsays.blogspot.com, my family and I appreciate it so much. I do want to add that I have friends from all over the world. I admire each of their countries for what it has to offer. I feel blessed to live where I do, but also to have the freedom to visit and enjoy other countries and cultures.

As my next door neighbors prepare to move back to England next week (I will greatly miss them) , I am once again reminded how fortunate we are to live like we do. National health is not a gift from the government - the rich will still always have better access to health care. The quality they receive is also compromised due to that program.

I also appreciate their economy better. My neighbors will be selling their house and will be able to afford half that house in England. Did you realize everything there is twice the cost and they only make an average of 30% more??? Cheers to them and godspeed!

    Stress & Illness
All this anxiety is getting to me. My glands are out a mile this morning. My body is saying , "take a day off and don't get sick." During his last deployment I was not sick for 3 months. He wasn't even home 20 minutes and I was as sick as could be with a stomach virus. Hmmm.... That was a lovely homecoming.

    Those Poor Unfortunate Souls
Yes, I am referring to those who feel we are misguided by the Government. No President has in his right mind, woke up in the morning and said "today I will start a war & stop any research that will possibly make people walk again." Please y'all! Wake up and smell the coffee. Remember there is so much classified that you and I aren't privy too and shouldn't be.

    Pre-Deployment Stress
How many pairs of socks should he bring, will he have enough toothpaste, do I know where all the investments are, should I start the kids on new routines? These are just a few little things families go to prior to deployment. As for love and affection - most spouses usually fondly remember their parting argument with their loved one prior to departure.

A brawl in Toys-R-Us of all places. I was a fool to think shopping for Christmas presents prior to his departure would make him feel better. It backfired on me! I think that is when the reality of his departure set in. However, we made it out with all our purchases and a smooch. The kids will have lots to open from Santa. Thank goodness he doesn't wrap or assemble gifts for Christmas (a smart rule I made from the git-go)!

The Debate & Reality at My Home
As I sat and watched the Presidential Debate with my husband last night, I felt my blood boil. During the debate, my husband handed me his "last will and testament" to preview as he heads to Iraq to serve his Country in 2 weeks. We have 3 children 8 and under, who will not have their dad home for at least a half a year. Not to mention the possibility of him not returning is something we will all carry as a burden during his absence.

So how do I feel after watching this 3rd debate? Let me lay it out in 6 layman points, not political "mumbo jumbo." Which, by the way, the candidates should both do better. The average American reads at a 3rd grade level and this "political" talk is way above my 3rd grader.

    1. I do not want my husband headed into Iraq for "The wrong war, wrong place, wrong time." I want him to fight for the "war on terror" that President Bush has lead us into to win.

    2. I think the United Nations and the "Global Test" are a pathetic excuse for Kerry to play armchair quarterback regarding foreign policies he does not have a clue about. I could care less if every country likes us or supports us in the war. We are the nation they all "secretly" long to be like.

    3. Kerry plays to the family of soldiers as he will bring "Jonny" home faster than The President. This is an empty promise. Do the families not realize that soldiers have to make up the "Special Forces" that Kerry wants to immediately send over? Is simply changing a job description or do we need a draft to get these soldiers???

    4. If we were to pull all our soldiers out of Iraq tomorrow, would I feel it safe to take my children anywhere in our own Country?

    5. Never change a President in the middle of a war!!! Any moron in the world can figure that out!

    6. As far as any other issues which I or you feel passionate about, our main goal in the world is safety. If we are not safe - who cares if I have health insurance (even though anybody in America can use a hospital if they need one)? Who cares about anything else if I cannot go to the mall with the money in my pocket that my husband earns protecting our country, while my children have health insurance, a good education, a roof over their head, can choose a religion of their own, have endless opportunities to be and achieve anything they "earn or yearn for" without having Government handouts?

I am just one Mom who has become more involved in politics because I care about my family and yours. Do not make a choice that you and I will regret. President Bush, though only human, has done more in his 4 years in office than most people will do in their lives. He is a good caring, compassionate man who wants the best for this Country.

When you cast your vote - don't get hung up on the issues of gay marriage, abortion, no child left behind, stem cell research, global tests, the stock market, health insurance. Please focus on the matter that matters the most - safety!!!
